The Brook Statement of faith

WE BELIEVE that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, each equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all things, upholds all things, governs all things, and is personally involved and transcendent in His creation.

WE BELIEVE that the SCRIPTURES of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, they are fully inspired, God breathed, without error, inerrant, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.  We believe the Bible should be taken in its plain and literal sense, unless the text and context clearly indicates otherwise.

WE BELIEVE in GOD THE FATHER, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE in JESUS CHRIST, God’s only begotten Son, who is very God of very God, 100% God and 100% man, conceived by the Holy Spirit.  We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teaching, His substitutional atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His physical ascension into Heaven, His perpetual intercession for His people, and His soon, personal, visible return to earth.

WE BELIEVE in the HOLY SPIRIT, The third person of the Godhead, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, seal and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ.  We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide.  We believe in the exercise of all Biblical gifts of the Spirit, and in the empowering or baptizing of the Holy Spirit with power to be bold witnesses of Christ.

WE BELIEVE that all PEOPLE are sinners by nature and choice and, therefore, are under condemnation and wrath of God.  But through the death of Christ, Gods wrath is satisfied, grace is offered, by which God regenerates, by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord, surrender to his Lordship, and receive Him as Savior and Lord. , that they are born again by the Holy Spirit and are a New Creation in Christ, no longer to walk and live as they once did, but will be sanctified from the world, and will bear fruits worthy of repentance. 

WE BELIEVE in the universal CHURCH, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons, are members.  We believe every believer has a responsibility to participate in their local church, using their gifts for the edification and growth of the whole body.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ORDINANCES to the church; 1) water baptism, and 2) the Lord’s supper.  We believe baptism is not for regeneration, but as an act of obedience to Christ’s command, and as an identification of the believer with the death and resurrection of Christ.  We believe the Lord supper or communion to be a memorial and constant reminder of the death of Christ, of His soon return and coming kingdom.

WE BELIEVE also in the Empowering of the Holy Spirit, for the ordination of pastors, elders and deacons, and for receiving of Spiritual gifts and for the healing of the sick and afflicted.

WE BELIEVE in the personal, visible RETURN OF CHRIST to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom; in the resurrection of our bodies, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.
